Dr. John is a topic expert on customer-centric process design; service recovery, service operations and marketing. He has engaged in academic and executive development work in Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, India, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and USA. Clients have included: Arabella Insurance, Childrens Hospital in Boston, Intertek Testing, LL Bean, Lowell General Hospital in Massachusetts, Mico-BOSCH in India, UC Berkeley (Seminarium) in S. America, and Volvo N. America.
As Dean, Dr. John established the entrepreneurship initiative ‘AcceleRagin’ at UL Lafayette. He co-founded OM (Opportunity Machine), a business incubator/accelerator in Lafayette, and the ‘Acadiana CFO Roundtable’ with its quarterly Economic Index for South Louisiana. As Dean, Dr. John launched the ‘Moody Executive Institute,’ and, conducted a monthly ‘Meet the CEO’ series for faculty as well as the Dean’s distinguished speaker series for students.
Under Dr. John’s deanship, the college launched three graduate-level programs – the Executive MBA, the MS Accounting, the online Graduate Certificate in Business, and the Northwestern Mutual Sales Lab, a sales training and research facility; acquired two new accreditations – the exclusive AACSB International accreditation for the Accounting program, and, the ACPHA accreditation for Hospitality Management program. Dean John coordinated the five-year AACSB accreditation for the college in 2011. He has served on numerous AACSB peer review teams. and, on the Southern US Business Deans Association (SBAA) Board. Dr. John serves on the Advisory Board of the La Rochelle (Sup de Co) Business School in France.
Prior to UL Lafayette, Dr. John was Chair of the Marketing Department at Bentley College in Boston, for eight of his twentyone years at that institution, where along with other senior colleagues, he designed its nationally ranked MBA program. Under his leadership, the department launched the Center for Marketing Technology and redesigned its graduate program as the MS in Marketing Analytics. At Bentley, Dr. John participated in USAID programs in Europe and North Africa.
Dr. John is past President of the Boston Chapter of the American Marketing Association’s (AMA) and past chair of the Services Marketing Special Interest Group of AMA International. He has served on the editorial review boards of four scholarly journals for more than two decades.
Dr. John has published the book: Customer-focused Management: Competing through service, co-authored a text book, The Marketing of Services: An Interactive Approach, now in its 4th edition, and, co-edited Services Marketing Experts: Snapshots, Glimpses and Reflections. In addition, Dr. John has published over fifty scholarly papers, co-chaired two research conferences and several conference tracks.
As member of the Board of Trustees of the Lafayette General Health System, Dr. John has served on its Quality, Safety and Satisfaction committee and on the Board of Directors of the University Hospital and Clinics. He has served on the Board of Advisors of the International Center for eight years, and as Chair of the Board for two years. Dr. John also serves on the Advisory Board of the World Trade Center, New Orleans and the Board of Directors of the Opportunity Machine. Previously, he served on the board of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Lafayette and on the Lafayette City-Parish Comprehensive Plan Citizens’ Advisory Council.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. John worked in new product development, product and brand management, professional sales, marketing and promotions, product and operations quality control, and, general management consulting in India at PFIZER, BAT (ITC Ltd.), Finolex Cables (SALEQUIP Division – Management Consulting), and Hoechst Pharmaceuticals.

B. Describe the business are you currently involved in.
Currently, a business school teacher in the US serving as Professor of Marketing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
C. Describe your work experience.
Three years of work experience in India in the early 1980s, 35 years of teaching experience in US universities including 8 years as Department Chair of Marketing at Bentley University in Boston and 8 years as Dean of Business at University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
D. Describe any entrepreneurial experience you have.
Owner of Roofing busines in Lafayette with $15 million annual sales, Advisory Board of a bio tech startup and an industrial hygiene certification company in Lafayette, Louisiana.
E. Describe your professional network.
Have extensive academic institutional connections in more than 15 countries. Have travelled to over 40 countries. Am currently serving on Advisory Board of business school in France. Have quite large business network connections in India.
F. What kinds of interests would you like to pursue?
I am willing to offer my expertise in marketing and business to any individuals who might require such assistance as advisor. I have some knowledge of business incubators for startups, since I co-founded the city business incubator in Lafayette, Louisiana.
G. What kinds of assistance do you need?
I am not looking for any assistance particularly. The companies are working for might benefit from connections to roofing manufacturers, large employers seeking protection and hygiene protocols from viral infections. Have some ideas for app-based businesses in real estate and home improvement and repairs.
